In order to continue XC riding in the winter we must ride at night, which means darkness! Or does it?
After demoing a number of lights, I found the right set up for my use. I use the NightRider Evolution with a helmet mount and for the time being the Zefal HF635 with the bar mount. This set up gives me the precision lighting in my line of sight (helmet) and periphery lighting from the bar mount, which helps me see what obstacles I am about to encounter and choosing my line down the singletrack. Using both a bar mounted light and the Night Rider Evolution the depth perception isn’t a problem.
The evolution comes with both bar and helmet mounts making it the "total solution" light system.
When mountain biking off road I find it is better to use the helmet mount, so the light goes where you look. For roadies and commuters you might enjoy the bar mount function better.

| I would recommend this light to anyone who needs to ride at night. But if its sunlight your looking for, and have the $$$ then check out the Storm HID and Light & Motion’s ARC Cabeza. |
